Here are some things I am interested in:

MIT's

The Clipper Chip:
Back in 1993 the U.S. Government made its first stab at making sure that it can read any messages sent (on the Internet or otherwise) even if it was encrypted by its senders. The government proposed that all encryption be done in hardware, in government approved chips that had a back door for government access to all encrypted data! This didn't happen, the "Clipper Chip" as it was called as "sunk." Today however our privacy is still under threat as governments around the world consider private communication too much of a threat, after all it might be used by criminals! More information is available at the privacy.org website.
Back in 1993 RSA Data Security put out a poster about the Clipper Chip... Sink Clipper and you can enjoy it here.
When not working or otherwise hacking with computers and networks my wife and I keep Guinea Pigs.
